Emergency Assistance

The emergency assistance program incorporates a wide range of services to assist families and individuals who have fallen on to hard times or are facing a financial hardship. These services consist of the homeless drop-in center, housing assistance, clothing distribution, food pantry and our re-entry program.  These programs are focused and designed to help the residents of our community to get through a challenging period.

Homeless Drop-In Center

Our homeless Drop-In Center provides a safe and nurturing environment where homeless guests can take showers, receive light meals, wash clothes, use the telephone, access our food and clothing pantry, as well as linkages to emergency shelters and other supportive services.
The Drop-in Center Hours are:

Monday – Friday
Morning: 9:00am – 11:30am
Afternoon: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Housing Services

Through our initial screening and assessment process, we provide supportive services to individuals and families experiencing financial hardships due to no fault of their own; these services include:

Rental Assistance Program

This program is design to help families and individuals who have falling behind in their rent due to no faut of their own and is facing imminent risk of becoming homeless.  Read More

This program is design to assist families and individuals who have experienced an emergency to no fault of the own, which caused them to become literally homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Read More

Utility Assistance

This program is design to help families and individuals who have fell on hardship and was not able to maintain their utility bill. Read More

NJ Shares Program

Utility assistance program provides assistance with PSE&G bills for residents throughout the State of New Jersey. Read More

Food Assistance

This program is designed to assist families who are facing finical hardship and is unsalable to purchase food. Read More

Food and Clothing Pantry

NESF food and clothing pantry services all of Essex County. The clothing pantry is designed to assist families and Individuals who are unable obtain clothing due to financial hardship. The Food Pantry is designed to assist families who are having food deficiencies due to a finical hardship. These programs also assist families who have displaced do natural disaster, such as a fire, flood or hurricane.
